This weekend, I started a new anime with my roommate. We decided not to read the bio for it because we wanted to see what it was about along the way. We made it to episode 9 and I honestly have to say that I love this anime! The story revolves around Anzu Hoshino, a high school girl who has no interest in romance, and Riri, a love wizard sent to earth to match-make people to increase the birthrate. Riri confiscates Anzu's "three greatest desires", video games, chocolate, and her cat, Momohiki, and conspired a series of events to make her encounter otome game-like situations. That's how she ends up living with and pursued by three boys: Tsukasa Kazaki, an anti-social ikeman, Juunta Hayami, Anzu's childhood friend, and Hijiri Koganei, a rich tsundere. Although she becomes friends with all of them, she tries her hardest not to get them caught up in Riri's schemes to establish romance between them. This is one of the funniest shojo animes that I've watched in a long time. I love that Anzu isn't the stereotypical shojo heroine. Anzu is a tomboy and an otaku when it comes to games and cat characters. She also stays true to herself and tries to fight Riri everytime she interferes with her life, sometimes unsuccessfully.
Visual Representation of Riri tormenting Anzu😂
This anime connects perfectly to chapter 7, which we're reviewing now. Words like 好き、大好き、きらい、and 大きらい come up a lot throughout the anime. I also recognized the dictionary forms of verbs come up in conversation between the characters like いく、くる、みる、etc. As we keep going through this chapter, I will definitely make more connections to this anime which is great for my learning.
